Uki Ovaskainen

 

Uki Ovaskainen was born in Esbo, Finland. He started playing at the age of five, while his first appearance as a soloist in front of an orchestra was at the age of eleven. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and received a Master’s Degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He has an active career as a soloist and chamber musician all across Scandinavia, Finland, Germany, Austria, Israel, Russia, Serbia, Croatia and Spain. He has performed at numerous soloist concerts and festivals. In 2004 he won a second award and a special prize for the best piano quintet at an international competition “Isidor Bajic” in Novi Sad, and in the same year in September he performed a concert series composed of eight different solo programs at the Music Academy in Copenhagen, which represents the greatest individual project at the Academy ever. In April 2007 he became a laureate of an international competition “Haen” in Spain and received the award of the audience, as well as a special award “Contemporanea“ for the best performance. He is currently working as an artistic collaborator at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
